 Kim emphasized that the Party and the nation have high expectations for the Air Force, which now plays a key role in the nuclear deterrence strategy. The Air Force must decisively counter and neutralize any enemy reconnaissance activities or military provocations that threaten the airspace, using overwhelming morale and aggressive tactics.

 Since unveiling new attack and reconnaissance drones - the Saetbyeol-4 and Saetbyeol-9 - in 2023, North Korea has been focused on enhancing its Air Force's unmanned aerial capabilities. Kim's mention of countering espionage activities suggests potential new military measures related to drone technology.

 To boost morale, Kim awarded the Order of Kim Jong Il to the Air Force on its 80th anniversary, as proposed by the Party's Central Committee and Central Military Commission.

 The leader also observed a commemorative air show, specifically praising female pilots An Ok-kyung and Son Ju-hyang for their twin formation flight.

 The day's events concluded with Kim attending a performance and hosting a banquet to honor Air Force personnel, according to the newspaper report.
