Bayern Munich's star defender Kim Min-jae is set to face Arsenal in a high-stakes Champions League clash, with all eyes on his performance against the club rumored to be interested in his services.

The German giants will host Arsenal at the Allianz Arena in Munich on October 22 at 4:00 a.m. (KST) for their third match in the 2026-27 Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League group stage.

This marquee matchup features last season's champions from the Bundesliga and the English Premier League.

Bayern Munich currently sits at 1 win and 1 draw (4 points), while Arsenal boasts a perfect 2-0 record (6 points). With both teams eyeing a direct ticket to the round of 16, reserved for the top eight teams in the group, fans can expect a fiercely contested battle.

The spotlight will be on Kim Min-jae, whose name has been swirling in recent transfer rumors linking him to Arsenal.

British media outlet Sky Sports reported on October 17 that Arsenal is considering a move for Kim in the January transfer window to shore up their defensive line.

The Gunners are in need of reinforcements at center-back following a long-term injury to defender Piero Inkapie.

Kim has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga, helping Bayern clinch the title last season. His strengths lie in his robust man-marking and impressive defensive coverage, thanks to his speed and agility.

Arsenal's interest in Kim is further fueled by their scout, Maurizio Micheli, who has a history with the Korean defender.

Micheli previously pushed for Kim's transfer to Napoli while the player was at Fenerbahçe, recognizing his potential. Now, he's reportedly keen on bringing Kim to North London.

In a twist of fate, this crucial match comes on the heels of Arsenal's rumored interest in Kim.

For the South Korean international, this game presents a golden opportunity to showcase his skills against a potential suitor, regardless of any transfer speculation.

A solid defensive display against Arsenal's potent attack could further cement his reputation as one of Europe's top defenders.

However, any slip-ups in such a high-profile match could raise questions about his ability to perform under pressure.

Julian Agardi, Bayern Munich correspondent for German outlet Bild, commented that it's no surprise that Kim is attracting interest from top clubs. However, he has occasionally made costly errors in big games. Another such mistake against Arsenal could impact the transfer rumors surrounding him.

Kim has been a regular fixture in Bayern's lineup recently, solidifying his position in the team.

He started in their Champions League match against Viking on October 14 and followed it up with another start in the Bundesliga clash with RB Leipzig on October 18.
