Epik High and Davichi are joining forces for a special collaboration on their new single, “Mise en Scène.”

The two acts will release “Mise en Scène” on music streaming platforms at 6 p.m. on the 13th. The track marks their first collaboration since their respective debuts, blending Davichi’s emotive vocals with Epik High’s sharp rap delivery to create a distinctive synergy. Kim Han-joo of Silica Gel and Epik High members Tablo and Mithra Jin also participated in writing and producing the song, further enhancing its musical quality.

After the collaboration was announced, listeners expressed excitement about the unexpected pairing, calling it a fresh combination. Since debuting in 2003, Epik High has built a distinctive musical identity through hip-hop, while Davichi, which debuted in 2008, has earned popularity by releasing a range of music centered on ballads. Given their pursuit of very different musical styles, the two acts have had few opportunities to work together. Their surprise collaboration has therefore caught fans off guard while raising curiosity about the music they will create.

Both acts have enjoyed long careers and built loyal fan bases, establishing themselves as top performers in their respective fields. In response to the news, some listeners jokingly compared the pairing to the rookie co-ed group All Day Project, exclaiming, “Here comes my old-days project!” The playful reaction drew laughs while also reflecting genuine anticipation for the music the two veteran acts would produce.

Sensing that anticipation, the two groups released a behind-the-scenes look at the song’s creation on the 12th through Davichi member Kang Min-kyung’s personal YouTube channel, “Gyangmingyeong.” As seasoned veterans of the music industry, the artists moved naturally through the songwriting and recording process. Through in-depth discussions aimed at improving the track, smooth exchanges of ideas, and mutual encouragement and praise, they brought “Mise en Scène” to life. A preview of the recording also evoked the musical sensibilities of the era when the two acts debuted, transporting some listeners back to the past and building anticipation for the finished song.

At the same time, Epik High and Davichi, both known for their comedic side, occasionally showed off their playful chemistry, revealing a special rapport and giving fans even more entertaining content to enjoy.

Through this collaboration, Davichi and Epik High are aiming to deliver both musical quality and engaging chemistry, showcasing the strengths of two veteran acts. Fans are now eager to hear the finished track and see what kind of performances the artists may offer in the future. “Mise en Scène” will be available on music streaming platforms beginning at 6 p.m. on the 13th.
