The production team of "Kian's Bizarre B&B 2" revealed that after the success of Season 1, Kian84 felt pressure and proposed a variety of ideas for a new guesthouse, ranging from an insect-themed house to one that floats in the sky.

On Thursday, directors Lee So-min and Kim Ji-hyun conducted an interview at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul, regarding the Netflix variety show "Kian's Bizarre B&B 2".

The show, which concluded on Tuesday, features Kian84, Kim Yeon Koung, Lee Junho, and Kazuha engaging in unique and entertaining guesthouse experiences with visitors in the picturesque Daegwallyeong area. Season 2 introduced new staff members, enhancing the chemistry with Kian84, and the final episode featured broadcaster Dex as a part-time worker, adding to the finale.

"Kian's Bizarre B&B 2" topped the Korean Netflix Top 10 series for the week of September 21 to 27. Notably, the show maintained a position in the Top 10 list alongside Season 1, proving the strength of the "Kian's Bizarre B&B" series.

Q: How have the cast members reacted now that the show has wrapped up?

A: (Lee So-min) The cast is loving the audience reactions. They're sharing comments in a group chat and having a blast. Kian84 had fun filming but was pretty nervous before the release. Now that the show's doing well, he seems more at ease. Kim Yeon Koung mentioned getting lots of direct messages (DMs) from international fans. Lee Junho was initially nervous but now feels more confident, saying he could do even better if given another chance. Kazuha, who didn't have many industry connections outside of LE SSERAFIM, is thrilled to have made new friends and is planning to meet up after their world tour.

Q: Was Kian84 particularly anxious about this season's release?

A: (Kim Ji-hyun) Yes, he was. The success of Season 1 added pressure, plus he designed the guesthouse himself this time. He was worried about living up to Season 1's success and how viewers would receive his creative ideas.

(Lee So-min) He's always concerned about these things. He feels a strong sense of responsibility and pressure, especially since the show bears his name. He really wants it to succeed.

Q: How did you bring Kian84's creativity to life?

A: (Lee So-min) Kian84 drew inspiration from his school days and his time as a webtoon artist. We put a lot of effort into realizing those ideas. We aimed for a lived-in feel, making sure it didn't look too much like a set.

(Kim Ji-hyun) It was challenging to balance implementing his ideas while ensuring everything was safe and practical.

Q: What aspect of the show are you most proud of?

A: (Lee So-min) The hot tub was a big win. We weren't sure if we could pull it off at first. The production team ran simulations. When Kian84 first described the view of the snowy landscape outside, seeing it come to life was really special.

Q: Were there any ideas that didn't make the cut?

A: (Lee So-min) We tried to bring as many of Kian84's wild ideas to life as possible. Most concepts before we settled on the studio apartment theme didn't pan out.

(Kim Ji-hyun) He pitched some pretty out-there ideas like a house on wheels, a floating house, and one hanging from a tree. Those were just too impractical to make happen.

(Lee So-min) After Season 1's success, Kian84 felt pressured to go bigger and bolder. He even considered an insect-themed house at one point! We had to remind him to focus on his personal philosophy rather than shock value. That process led us to the final concept we have now.

Q: Did you notice any changes in Kian84 this season? Are there plans for Season 3?

A: (Lee So-min) Kian84 definitely grew this season. He felt the pressure after Season 1's success but evolved into a more seasoned host. We're in positive talks with Netflix about Season 3, and I think Kian84 is interested too. If we can bring something fresh to the table, I believe we'll make it happen.

Q: With so many lodging-themed shows out there, did you feel pressure to innovate in Season 2?

A: (Lee So-min) Absolutely, but we found that Season 2 had its own unique vibe. If Season 1 was all about raw energy and excitement, Season 2 felt warmer and focused more on personal growth. For Season 3, we're brainstorming new stories to tell. Our goal isn't to be more sensational, but to build naturally on the narratives we developed in Season 2.

Q: What's Kian84 like off-camera?

A: (Lee So-min) He's pretty much the same guy you see on screen. The main difference is that he worries more than you'd think. He takes his responsibility very seriously, which shows in his work. During our long production meetings, he always emphasizes the importance of authenticity. We really tried to capture Kian84's genuine self in the show.
