The controversy arose when videos surfaced on various online platforms showing Chaeyoung at FKA TWIGS' rave party held at Seoul's Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).

In the footage, she was seen turning around and bringing an object to her mouth. This led some internet users to speculate about indoor smoking, but these claims have since been debunked.
