SK Plasma has launched Revolpac, a treatment for thrombocytopenia, expanding its portfolio of therapies for rare and severe blood disorders.

The company said Monday it has begun supplying Revolpac Tablets 25 mg and 50 mg, which received approval from South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in May. The drug has also been covered by the national health insurance program since Aug. 1.

Revolpac contains eltrombopag olamine, a prescription medicine that stimulates platelet production in the bone marrow. It is indicated for chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and severe aplastic anemia.

Chronic ITP is an autoimmune disorder in which platelet counts fall, increasing the risk of bruising and bleeding. Revolpac is used to raise platelet counts in patients who have not responded adequately to conventional treatments such as corticosteroids or immunoglobulin.

For patients with severe aplastic anemia, the drug is used in combination with immunosuppressive therapy or for those who have not responded to existing treatment by promoting platelet production.

According to IQVIA, the South Korean market for eltrombopag products totaled about $6.7 million over the 12 months ended March 2026.

SK Plasma, a plasma-derived therapeutics company, has supplied essential medicines including albumin and immunoglobulins. The company said the addition of Revolpac, following its hemophilia therapies, strengthens its blood disorder treatment portfolio while supporting its expansion into therapies for rare and intractable diseases.

Kim Seung-joo, CEO of SK Plasma, said expanding treatment options remains critical regardless of the number of patients affected by rare diseases.

"Building on our expertise in blood disorders, we will broaden treatment choices for patients while expanding our business across the rare and intractable disease sector," Kim said.

SK Plasma is also expanding its pipeline through strategic investments and co-development partnerships. Rimkatoju, a CAR-T therapy developed by portfolio company Curocell, has received marketing approval in South Korea and is undergoing the national reimbursement process. The company is also collaborating with AimedBio on the development and global commercialization of antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) cancer therapies.

Plasma-derived therapeutics are classified by the World Health Organization as essential medicines and are used to treat severe diseases. Because they have few therapeutic alternatives, countries without domestic manufacturing capacity remain highly dependent on imports and are vulnerable to supply disruptions.
