Dong-A University Hospital has unveiled its new artificial intelligence (AI) powered smart bed monitoring system, thynC, in partnership with Daewoong Pharmaceutical. This marks the largest implementation of such technology among tertiary hospitals in the Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang regions.

The hospital has equipped 272 out of its 1,000 beds with thynC, extending advanced monitoring capabilities beyond the intensive care unit to general wards.

ThynC, developed by wearable AI diagnostic monitoring firm Seers, is distributed and sold domestically by Daewoong Pharmaceutical.

Using wearable devices, the system continuously collects and analyzes crucial vital signs, including electrocardiograms (ECG), oxygen saturation levels, and respiratory rates.

This technology enables medical staff to swiftly identify changes in patient conditions and respond promptly, shifting the paradigm of patient care towards proactive prediction and early intervention.

For healthcare providers, the centralized monitoring system allows simultaneous observation of multiple patients, significantly reducing the need for frequent ward rounds and manual record-keeping.

Dong-A University Hospital's implementation of thynC is viewed as a pioneering model for digital healthcare innovation in the region. It's anticipated to catalyze the adoption of AI-based real-time monitoring systems across local medical facilities, accelerating the transition to smart hospitals.

They're committed to leveraging AI-driven digital healthcare technologies to deliver safer, higher-quality medical services as a leading smart hospital in the region.

Lee Chang-jae, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Daewoong Pharmaceutical, noted that Dong-A University Hospital's implementation serves as a benchmark for smart hospitals, extending advanced patient safety management from critical care units to general wards. ThynC is set to evolve further, incorporating 24-hour blood pressure and glucose monitoring capabilities.

He added that in collaboration with Searis, it aims to support precise medical diagnoses through thynC, creating an environment that allows nursing staff to focus more intently on patient safety.

Earlier in March, Daewoong Pharmaceutical introduced thynC to all beds at Hwangseong Daesung Hospital, marking the first such implementation in a secondary care facility in Gangwon Province.

The hospital outfitted all 104 beds with the system, enabling round-the-clock real-time monitoring of inpatient conditions. This represents the first full-scale deployment of a smart bed monitoring system in a facility with over 100 beds in the region.
