Hyundai Steel announced on Wednesday the launch of Steel-X, a groundbreaking generative artificial intelligence (AI) platform. This innovative system integrates and analyzes internal documents and data, empowering employees to create their own AI agents for work-related tasks.

Steel-X is a comprehensive platform that centralizes internal knowledge previously scattered across various systems and departments while offering a suite of AI services. Developed through close collaboration between Hyundai Steel and Hyundai AutoEver from the initial planning stages, it reflects real-world work environments and employee needs.

The platform boasts four key features: knowledge asset management, a multi-AI integration environment, an employee AI playground, and seamless data linkage with existing work systems.

The knowledge asset management feature revolutionizes document handling by automatically converting internal documents from platforms like Microsoft Teams into AI-compatible formats. This allows employees to effortlessly locate necessary documents or query relevant information without the need to search through multiple systems.

The multi-AI integration environment offers flexibility, enabling employees to select the most appropriate AI model - whether internally developed or from external services - based on their specific work requirements.

The employee AI playground is a game-changer, allowing users to create specialized knowledge chatbots and AI agents using their personal documents or team folders, without any coding expertise. These custom AI services can be shared across individual, team, or company-wide levels for practical application.

Steel-X also features robust data linkage capabilities with internal work systems. This expands AI utilization beyond simple document searches and summaries to include retrieval and analysis of real-time operational data.

Hyundai Steel anticipates that Steel-X will significantly enhance efficiency and reduce processing times across various tasks. These include searching company regulations and work manuals, summarizing technical documents, and analyzing equipment history and operational data.

Looking ahead, the company plans to refine AI agent functionalities based on feedback from operational departments and strengthen data integration with work systems. This initiative aims to drive a comprehensive artificial intelligence transformation (AX) throughout the organization.

A Hyundai Steel spokesperson stated that through Steel-X, it aims to expand the utilization of the internal data and empower the employees to directly leverage AI in their daily work. This strategy will continuously strengthen the foundation for company-wide AI transformation.

Hyundai AutoEver, the information technology (IT) and software arm of Hyundai Motor Group, specializes in developing and managing vehicle software and corporate IT systems. The company is at the forefront of smart factory implementation and supports businesses in their digital transformation (DX) and AI transformation (AX) journeys, leveraging cutting-edge AI, cloud, and big data technologies.
