Google is launching a version of its artificial intelligence (AI) service, Gemini, integrated into the Chrome web browser in South Korea. This AI-powered feature will assist users in easily navigating web information, with a standout capability of summarizing YouTube video content into text.

On Tuesday, Google announced the expanded rollout of Gemini in Chrome, which incorporates AI into the Chrome browser for Korean users.

Built on Gemini 3.1, Gemini in Chrome will condense lengthy web content and seamlessly integrate various productivity tools such as Gmail, Maps, Calendar, and YouTube within the browser, enabling users to efficiently complete tasks.

Users can access the AI assistant by clicking the Ask Gemini icon in the top right corner of the browser, allowing for conversation without switching tabs. This feature facilitates web content summarization and supports a range of Q&A interactions.

The tool also remembers previously visited pages, reducing the need to keep multiple tabs open.

Gemini in Chrome boasts integration with Google services including Gmail, Maps, Calendar, and YouTube. Users can draft emails, add calendar events, or check locations on Maps without navigating away from their current page.

A standout feature is its ability to summarize lengthy YouTube videos. Users can play a video in Chrome, activate Gemini, and request a summary, allowing them to grasp key points without watching the entire content.

The tool also supports cross-referencing information from multiple open tabs, enabling users to compare and organize data on a single screen.

Additionally, it incorporates the AI image generator Nano Banana 2, allowing users to transform images directly within the browser without file uploads or tab switching.

Google emphasized that these new features are designed with user control in mind and that security has been a priority from the initial development stages. The company has implemented safeguards for web navigation and requires confirmation before executing sensitive tasks like sending emails or adding calendar events.

This browser update will initially be available on personal computer (PC) and Apple operating system (iOS) platforms. Android users can activate Gemini even while using Chrome and other apps by long-pressing the power button.

Google stated that following this launch, they plan to introduce more features throughout the year and continue expanding supported languages and regions.
