Celltrion announced on Friday that it has donated 30 million KRW (approximately 20,300 USD) to the Korean Blood Cancer Association to support the treatment of blood cancer patients.

The donation ceremony took place the previous day at Celltrion's Global Biopharmaceutical Research Center in Songdo, Incheon. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Seo Jin-seok and Lee Cheol-hwan, the executive vice president of the Korean Blood Cancer Association, were among the attendees.

The funds were raised through Celltrion's virtual charity event, Dream Run 2026, which was organized to coincide with Cancer Prevention Day on March 21.

Cancer Prevention Day, a nationally recognized observance, was designated on March 21 to highlight the 3-2-1 principle: one-third of cancer cases are preventable, one-third can be cured through early diagnosis, and the remaining third can be overcome with proper treatment.

Celltrion organized this event to raise awareness about disease prevention while providing concrete support to blood cancer patients. The campaign saw participation from 1,000 running enthusiasts, including 236 Celltrion employees, adding significance to the initiative.

The donated funds will be entirely allocated to the Filling Box project, which provides care kits for patients with acute leukemia. These kits contain essential items for managing side effects such as infections and mucosal damage, which are common in patients with weakened immune systems undergoing chemotherapy or stem cell transplants.

Each kit, valued at approximately 200,000 KRW (about 135 USD), will be distributed to 150 patients. Through this initiative, Celltrion aims to alleviate the daily challenges faced by patients during treatment and support their journey back to a healthier life.

A Celltrion spokesperson stated that as a global biotech company, they've launched this donation campaign to improve patients' quality of life throughout their treatment journey. It hopes these funds will effectively enhance the care environment for patients, and it's committed to expanding the patient-centered support initiatives in the future.
