Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and CEO Jeon Young-hyun is delivering the opening speech at the Samsung AI Forum 2025 held at Samsung Electronics The UniverSE Concert Hall in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do on Monday.

Samsung Electronics is set to host the Samsung Artificial Intelligence (AI) Forum 2025 on Monday and Tuesday.

Now in its 9th year, the Samsung AI Forum will feature keynote speeches from global AI luminaries, including Yoshua Bengio, a deep learning pioneer from the University of Montreal, and Joseph Gonzalez, a UC Berkeley professor renowned for his expertise in language models and AI agents.

In his opening address, Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jeon Young-hyun stated that Samsung Electronics is developing foundational technologies that enable easy and rapid AI deployment across various business domains. Further, this year's forum will be a pivotal moment for industry leaders and academics to explore AI's transformative impact on society and industry, fostering a rich exchange of ideas.

The forum's first day, organized by Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions (DS) division, was held at Samsung Electronics' The UniverSE Concert Hall in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. Over 200 invited guests engaged in discussions centered on Vertical AI Strategies and Vision in the Semiconductor Industry.

During his keynote, Professor Bengio from the University of Montreal highlighted potential risks associated with current AI models, such as human control evasion and malicious use. He introduced a novel model called Scientist AI, designed to serve as a safeguard against these risks.

Following this, Amit Gupta, Vice President of Siemens Electronic Design Automation (EDA), delivered a presentation on The Future of AI-Based Electronic Design.

A technology session led by Samsung Electronics' DS division Vice President Song Yong-ho , along with Professor Kang Seok-hyung from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) and Professor Moon Il-chul from Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), explored the latest AI applications in semiconductor design and manufacturing, as well as future prospects.

Vice President Song emphasized that AI has become indispensable in chip design and software development. Noting that it will play a crucial role in overcoming technical limitations in manufacturing complexity.

The Samsung AI Researcher Award ceremony recognized three distinguished recipients: Professor Nicolas Papernot from the University of Toronto, Professor Rose Yu from UC San Diego, and Professor Lerrel Pinto from New York University. The awardees also presented their research on-site.

The second day of the forum, scheduled for Tuesday and organized by Samsung Electronics' Device eXperience (DX) division, will focus on Beyond Generative AI, Toward Agentic AI and will be conducted online.

Agentic AI refers to artificial intelligence systems capable of autonomous decision-making and task execution.

Jeon Kyung-hoon , Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and head of Samsung Research, commented that generative AI has already become an essential tool in daily life and across industries. Further, as we enter the era of agentic AI, Samsung Electronics is committed to developing AI technologies that offer tangible benefits to users.

The second day's keynote lineup includes Professor Gonzalez from UC Berkeley, a leading authority on language models and AI agents; Subbarao Kambhampati from Arizona State University, an expert in AI's autonomous planning and decision-making; and Stefano Ermon, co-founder of the startup Inception and Stanford University professor, who will unveil diffusion-based language model (DLM) technology.

The technology sessions on day two will showcase Samsung Research's latest innovations, including AI-powered automatic camera color temperature adjustment, efficient large language model training techniques using knowledge distillation, on-device technology for integrating large language models into consumer electronics, and AI-driven automatic dubbing in authentic human voices.
